FNCCI has expressed its disappointment that the related body did not talked with the private sectors before taking the decision.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">“With or without the electricity supply, industries are required to pay the minimum demand charge. There are several impediments to the hydropower development and electricity supply, “Increasing the electricity tariff rate will raise the production cost ultimately affecting the competitive capacity of the industries,” reads the statement. The private sector body also criticised the removal of three per cent discount on the payment of the electricity bill. NEA provides such discount for the customers who pay their bills on time. </p>
