June 13: Confederation of Nepalese Industries (CNI) has concluded the first episode of ‘Parisangh Ma Paricharcha’ on June 12.  The program held discussion on contemporary subject ‘supply management’. The program was also attended by Supply Minister Ganesh Man Pun and Supply Secretary Sridhar Sapkota.

“We will interact and discuss other contemporary issues with the related stakeholders, specialist and government officials in coming days,” informs CNI in a press statement. According to CNI, such discussions will lead to problems identification of the entrepreneurs, address their complaints and seek out the solutions.

The program drew attention of Minister Pun and Secretary Sapkota towards the problems in supply system, its negative effects on industries and the burden created by the condition on the consumers. According to Supply Minister Pun, he has seriously taken the issues raised in discussion and assured that   the Ministry will play inter-ministerial role in addressing the concerns of industrialist and entrepreneurs.

“Many sectors are involved in the protection of consumer benefits but lack of coordination between them has created difficulty in solving the problems,” said Hari Bhakta Sharma, Chairman of CNI. Speaking in the program, he emphasized that consumers are having difficulties due to the increase in the market price because of syndication in transportation of Kathmandu valley.“ Easy supply of energy, increase in the storage capacity and easy supply of manure and seed to the farmers should be ensured’” added Sharma.

Answering the questions raised in discussion, Supply Secretary said, “The Ministry is working towards up-to-date amendments in the Consumer Protection Act-2054 which has outdated.” According to him, construction of fuel storage depots has been started all across the country. He also assured of completing Raxaual-Amlekhgunj pipeline in time.
