June 2: Mountaineering training institute, Mountain Academy Nepal (MAN) is going to operate international standard 'mountaineering academy ' from mid November 2016. According to the Lakpa Futi Sherpa, Executive Director of MAN, the academy has obtained license from Tribhuvan University for 4 years Bachelors Degree in Mountaineering Studies. "Along with the bachelor's degree, the academy is in process to conduct master's level studies from next year," she added.

The academy will be the first formal educational institute in Nepal providing studies on mountaineering, mountain environment management and mountain guides.  Sherpa claims “The academy will be the first academy in Asia that will teach mountain related studies".

The study has been targeted on students having interest in mountaineering and adventurous sport. Since, Mount Everest, the highest peak in the world is in Nepal, students will have privilege to do practical study in real mountains.

The institution believes that once the course started, students from all across the world will arrive in the academy to undertake mountaineering related studies. The institution informs that in the 4 years Bachelors degree, students will study 2 years in Kathmandu and 2 years in Solukhumbu. It will cost Rs 400,000 to Rs 700,000 for completing Bachelors level in mountaineering academy. However, it has been informed that Nepali students will be charged minimum fee.
