May 8: The Confederation of Nepalese Industries (CNI) has started signature collection movement to make the commitment to ensure five different issues related to the livings of common people. The signature collection initiative with the slogan ‘Our commitment: For all Nepalis’ was started amid a program held in Kathmandu on April 6. President of CNI, Hari Bhakta Sharma started the movement by signing on the banners with five different slogans.

The five different slogans include peace and prosperity, employment and development, education and health, water and electricity and self dependence and self respect.

The program hosted the participants like members of the CNI, high ranking government officials, representative from various diplomatic agencies, leaders of civil society, officials of department of defense and individuals of the private sectors.  The program also marked the presence of Ex-prime minister and Conveyer of Naya Sakti Nepal, Dr. Baburam Bhattari, Vice President of National Planning Commission, Dr. Yuv Raj Khatiwada, Governor of Nepal Rastra Bank, Dr. Chiranjibi Nepal, Speaker of the Parliament Osni Ghatri Magar, Former-speaker of the Parliament Subash Chandra Nemang, Commerce minister Jayanta Chand and Secretary of Government Dr. Som Lal Subedi, who signed on the designated slogans along with their commitment.

Moreover, Pashupati Murarka, President of FNCCI and other members of FNCCI along with representatives of the Nepal Chamber also signed in the support of the movement.

“The private sector is very excited to have the commitment in written forms for the basic issues,” said Sharma. The federation has also planned to collect minimum one million signatures and commitment and take them to the policy making and implementation level. According to CNI, they will collect the signatures across the country by assigning certain number of signature to its chapters and member industries to collect. The confederation has also expected the help and support from all the stakeholders. “The program will be continued in the coming days,” informs CNI.
