Pakistan to Privatise 31 Entities 
Pakistan has decided to sell at least 26 per cent shares of 31 state-owned entities, including the flag carrier PIA and Pakistan Railways, in a massive privatisation move to fulfil a key clause of the IMF’s USD 6.7 billion bailout, reports said on Thursday. The government has directed the Privatisation Commission to immediately start the process of selling 31 public sector entities (PSEs) through initial and secondary public offering and transfer of 26 per cent shares along with management control, to the private sector, the Dawn reported. 
 
US Set to be Top Energy Producer in 2013
The United States could push past Russia and Saudi Arabia as the world’s largest single producer of oil and of natural gas this year, a US government agency said on Friday. While the US was roughly even with Russia as the top producer in 2012 of the petroleum and gas fuels combined, it still lagged the longtime leader Saudi Arabia as an oil producer.
 
ADB Cuts Asia Growth Forecasts 
The Asian Development Bank cut its economic growth forecast for developing Asia on Wednesday, citing weakness in region’s two largest economies China and India and jitters over plans to scale back US stimulus that destabilized financial markets.The Manila-based lender said it expects the region’s emerging economies to grow by 6 per cent this year, down from 6.6 per cent predicted in April. 
 
Airlines Fill Record Number of Seats : IATA
World airline traffic expanded by 6.8 percent in August, enabling the industry to match an all-time record of 83.4 percent of seats filled, the International Air Transport Association (IATA) said on Wednesday.  “August was a positive month for passenger travel,” IATA chief Tony Tyler said in a statement, pointing out that the overall passenger load factor, or percentage of seats filled, matched a record set in July 2011. 
 
German Unemployment in Surprise Increase
The number of people out of work in Germany unexpectedly rose by a seasonally adjusted 25,000 in September to just under three million. Analysts had penciled in a fall of 5,000, after a rise of 9,000 in August.
