Australia has unveiled a levy on some bank deposits to raise money towards a fund aimed at safeguarding against a banking collapse. Deposits up to A$250,000 will have to pay a levy of 0.05% from January 2016. It will be imposed on banks and not account holders. (BBC) 
 
 
EADS to be Rebranded as Airbus EADS to be Rebranded as Airbus 
EADS, the parent company of Airbus, says it is to rename itself after its commercial plane-making subsidiary. It will be called Airbus Group and have three divisions; commercial aircraft, defence and space, and helicopters. Implementation of the change will start in January and is set to be completed in the second half of 2014. (Agency)

Americans Favor Cash Americans Favor Cash for Long-Term Investments 
26 per cent of Americans prefer cash for their long-term investments, edging out stocks, bonds, gold and real estate, according to a new Bankrate survey of more than 1,000 US adults. Whether it’s in a savings account or a money-market fund, sheltering cash would barely yield any growth given the current low interest rates. A $10,000 investment in a money-market fund today would just gain $110 over a decade, according to Bankrate. (CNN) 
 
Nawaz Sharif‘We will promote trade, business with India ’ 
Relations between India and Pakistan should be like that of two neighbours, with the focus being on trade and business, Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif said on Thursday. Sharif made the remarks while interacting with reporters during a rare visit to Karachi, Pakistan’s financial hub. Asked by a journalist about the state of ties with India, he said relations “should be like how relations are between two neighbours”. (Agency)
