don Ganesh LamaNotorious Don Lama Thrown Behind Bar
The Special Court has sent the notorious don Ganesh Lama to judicial custody on Thursday after he failed to post the bail amount. Lama has been sent to Dillibazar Jail. A full bench of court led by its chairman Kedar Prashad Chalise has sought three million rupees from Lama following a preliminary hearing on his case of amassing millions of rupees. 
 
The Department of Money Laundering Investigation (DMLI) had filed a case against Lama on the accusation of amassing Rs 270 million rupees through illegal means. 
 
Lama, who is also a central committee member of the Madhesi People’s Rights Forum-Democratic led by Bijay Kumar Gachhadar, had appeared to court on Wednesday, three days after missing two earlier deadlines issued by the court. 
 
The DMLI had filed cases separately against Lama, Mahesh Basnet, Abhishek Giri and Dipak Manange on May 19. 
 
Minister for Culture, Tourism, and Civil Aviation Ram Kumar Shrestha‘Govt on HLPC’s string’ 
Minister for Culture, Tourism, and Civil Aviation Ram Kumar Shrestha has said that the incumbent government is under the control of the High Level Political Committee (HLPC). Speaking at a program organised in the Capital on Wednesday, Minister Shrestha also said that it would be acceptable to them if the HLPC requests the government to quit or postpone the election. 
 
“There is no rationale to stick to the government if the country gets a way out upon our resignation,” he said. Likewise, he also urged the dissident parties to come sit for the dialogue. However, Minister Shrestha was of the view that it would not make any huge difference to the country even if some fringe parties boycotted the polls. 
 
‘Election for political stability’ 
Chairperson of Interim Election Council, Khil Raj Regmi, has said there isn’t any alternative for the Constituent Assembly election for political stability. He made such remarks on Wednesday while delivering his speech at the 54th anniversary of Tribhuwan University. He also requested one and all to be positive towards the election. He also underlined the need of quality education for social change in the country. 
 
 
‘Kamlari dekhi Sabhasadsamma’Former Kamlari-turned-Lawmaker Chaudhary’s autobiography launched 
‘Kamlari dekhi Sabhasadsamma’ - an autobiography of former lawmaker Shanta Chaudhary has been released in the Capital on Wednesday. 
 
Former Kamlari (bonded labor) Manjita Chuadhary launched the book of former lawmaker Chaudhary amid a function attended by CPN-UML Chairperson Jhalanath Khanal and former chairperson of the Constituent Assembly, Subhash Chandra Nembang. The book details on the enduring experiences of former lawmaker Chaudhary as a Kamlari, her involvement in the land rights movement, and her long struggle from being illiterate to literate, as well as her subsequent rise as lawmaker from being a Kamlari.
