The board meeting of CAAN wrote to AAI on Monday requesting approval for the calibration flight. The agreement will be signed within the next ten days.</span></span></span></p>
<p><span style="font-size:18px"><span style="font-family:Calibri,sans-serif"><span style="font-family:"Times New Roman","serif"">Newly appointed Director-General of CAAN Rajkumar Chhetri informed that the board meeting of CAAN held last Thursday took a decision to this effect.</span></span></span></p>
<p><span style="font-size:18px"><span style="font-family:Calibri,sans-serif"><span style="font-family:"Times New Roman","serif"">"A letter has been sent to India. The decision was taken at Thursday's meeting and sent to the concerned body of India on Monday. The AAI will sign an agreement with CAAN in 8-10 days," he said.</span></span></span></p>
<p><span style="font-size:18px"><span style="font-family:Calibri,sans-serif"><span style="font-family:"Times New Roman","serif"">The calibration flight is operated to check the runway, lighting system, air communication, tower communication, landing, and the radars. After completing the calibration flight successfully, Gautam Buddha International Airport will be ready to serve as an alternative to Tribhuvan International Airport. </span></span></span></p>
<p><span style="font-size:18px"><span style="font-family:Calibri,sans-serif"><span style="font-family:"Times New Roman","serif"">CAAN decided to sign the agreement with AAI after canceling the calibration flight agreement with Thai Aero.</span></span></span></p>
<p><span style="font-size:18px"><span style="font-family:Calibri,sans-serif"><span style="font-family:"Times New Roman","serif"">Chhetri said that he aims to bid farewell to CAAN after the making the Gautam Buddha International Airport operational. He added that priority has been given for upgrading various other airports including Pokhara International Airport that are in the final stage of construction. </span></span></span></p>
<p><span style="font-size:18px"><span style="font-family:Calibri,sans-serif"><span style="font-family:"Times New Roman","serif"">CAAN's budget for the current fiscal year 2078/79 has not been passed. This year, the authority had proposed a budget of Rs 41.76 billion.</span></span></span></p>
