May 15:  Minister for Finance Bishnu Prasad Paudel has said that the government is preparing to introduce a budget for the upcoming fiscal year 2021/22 that focuses on combating the Covid-19. 

Assuming the office on Friday after getting reappointed as Finance Minister, he said that the government would mobilize all available resources to address the crisis caused by the pandemic. 
He said that the preparation of the budget for the upcoming fiscal year has reached the final stage. 

The budget would address the current health crisis as well as revive the economy hit by the pandemic, Finance Minister Paudel said. He also expressed his commitment to ensure resources to ramp up Covid-19 tests and provide treatment to all patients. 

Finance Minister Paudel will table the budget in the federal parliament on May 29 as per a provision in the constitution.  

Meanwhile, Finance Minister Paudel approved a decision to release Rs 58.32 million to Dadeldhura Hospital, Patan Academy of Health Sciences and Bheri Hospital for the installment of oxygen plant and pipeline, according to a statement issued by the MoF. 

Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli, after getting reappointed on Thursday as the leader of the largest political party in the House of Representatives, had expanded his cabinet on Friday after taking oath of office from President Bidya Devi Bhandari. He had reappointed 22 ministers and three state ministers including Paudel and assigned them the same portfolio that they had held in the previous cabinet.
