Issuing a statement on Thursday, NBA—the umbrella organization of commercial banks—said that its members will offer only five essential banking services to the public during the prohibitory period.

<p>Issuing a statement on Thursday, NBA—the umbrella organization of commercial banks—said that its members will offer only five essential banking services to the public during the prohibitory period. </p>
<p>The decision to limit services to the public through their offices or branches is aimed at avoiding crowd in banks and curbing risks of coronavirus infection, according to the statement. </p>
<p>Bank services will now be limited to cash withdrawal, deposit of cash, fund transfer (cheque/ IPS/ RTGS), remittance payment and international trade. Banks have also set a minimum limit for the cash deposit. Only cash above Rs 50,000 will be deposited in bank branches, according to the NBA.</p>
<p>However, the NBA also said that clients can make phone call to their respective branch if they urgently need any other services. </p>
<p>Urging people to embrace digital banking services in line with the government’s request to stay at home during the prohibitory period, NBA also said that they can make phone call or email to their respective banks if they face any problem or require any assistance for online or mobile banking transactions. </p>
<p>All ATMs and call centers will remain open as usual, according to the NBA. </p>
