<span style="font-size: 12px;">Nepal is registering a sharp increase in the number of Chinese visitorship in recent months. The figures released by Immigration Office revealed that arrivals from the neighbouring nation has registered a significant growth of 35.7 percent in March this year despite the decline of overall tourist arrivals by 2.1 percent compared to the same month of 2012. Some 5,782 visitors from China made their trip to Nepal in March this year. Chinese tourist arrivals via air reached 17,341 in the first three months of 2013. China has managed to secure second position in the top lists of countries .The number of Chinese visitors reached 85,832 in 2012. The average length of stay for Chinese tourists is 10 days, according to government statistics. Buddhist pilgrimages and adventure activities such as trekking, paragliding and rafting are the main draws for Chinese visitors. Burgeoning number of promotional activities is being credited for this as Nepal’s participation at Chinese trade shows are increasing. </span></p>

‘But, there are various problem seen to attract more Chinese tourists like adequate shopping destinations of luxury goods’, says Ashok Pokharel, the President of Nepal Association of Tour Operators (NATO). He told that Chinese visitors aren’t getting other services properly as they face difficulty in communications caused by language problems. Pokharel also pointed to the lack of adequate airline access and higher air fare as other factors hindering the arrival of more Chinese guests. ‘Similarly, private sector and government should make effective plans to increase their stay period in Nepal,’ he added.</p>',
