There were a total of 294 active transportation committees in Nepal before the government decided to bring them under company model. It is still not clear whether the transportation committees merged with each other to get registered as companies.</p>

The government had directed these committees to register as companies on April 17, 2018.</p>

“As the deadline for registration is closed and the registered companies are in post registration process, it will take some time to know the number of committees that have merged into one,” says Yogendra Nath Karmacharya, president of the Federation of Nepalese National Transport Entrepreneurs Association.</p>

Rabindra Aacharya, Deputy Registrar at the Office of the Company Registrar informed New Business Age that the committees were given time until June 1 to come under the Companies Act after extending the deadline for the third time.</p>

There were a total of 294 active transportation committees in Nepal before the government decided to bring them under company model. It is still not clear whether the transportation committees merged with each other to get registered as companies.</p>
