May 27: The hills of Dailekh are full of bayberries, locally known as ‘kafal’, this season. The berries have become a good source of income for the locals. People of all age group including children and elderly people can be seen with baskets full of berries picked from the jungle. Some are busy selling the berries along the streets while some are busy plucking the berries in the forests. </p>

The locals are fully occupied in this temporary business. A vendor told New Business Age that she earns between Rs 2000 to Rs 3000 per day be selling the berries. A cup of berries are sold for Rs 50. </p>
<p>
During this season, the berries are found abundantly in the forests while it has good demand in the market. So far, no one has started commercial farming of this fruit since it is found in plenty in the forests. This type of berry grows in high hills and the mountainous region of the country. The bark of the ‘kafal’ tree is used for medicinal purpose.</p>
