Around two years ago, the NTA had issued a tender notice for expanding telecommunication network in rural areas. The telecom authority selected United Telecom through the bidding process and signed a deal with it on April 28, 2017.</p>
<p>
But, UTL assigned Tele Infra Ltd Nepal to work in the project as its joint venture company. The joint venture had asked for advance payment from the NTA for the project. But the NTA refused it saying that the joint venture failed to work on time.</p>
<p>
The government unilaterally announced the cancellation of the deal with UTL on February 21. It also said that the company had failed to work as per the agreement to complete the work within two years.</p>

May 13: The Supreme Court has ordered Nepal Telecommunication Authority (NTA) not to cancel the deal with United Telecom Ltd and its associate company to expand telecommunication services in the rural parts of the country.</p>
<p>
A single bench of Justice Purushottam Bhandari issued the interim order on Sunday in response to a writ petition filed by the company and its associate three days ago.</p>
<p>
Around two years ago, the NTA had issued a tender notice for expanding telecommunication network in rural areas. The telecom authority selected United Telecom through the bidding process and signed a deal with it on April 28, 2017.</p>
<p>
But, UTL assigned Tele Infra Ltd Nepal to work in the project as its joint venture company. The joint venture had asked for advance payment from the NTA for the project. But the NTA refused it saying that the joint venture failed to work on time.</p>
<p>
The government unilaterally announced the cancellation of the deal with UTL on February 21. It also said that the company had failed to work as per the agreement to complete the work within two years.</p>
