Speaking at a meeting of the Finance Committee of the Federal Parliament on Wednesday, former prime minister Baburam Bhattarai said that the current government has been criticized a lot in the past one year after courting numerous controversies.</p>
<p>
“This is why the government intends to introduce a populist budget and the recently-announced policies and programs clearly indicate the same,” said Bhattarai.</p>
<p>
Bhattarai suggested to the government to introduce a budget focused on achieving the economic growth target.</p>
<p>
Similarly, former finance minister Gyanendra Bahadur Karki said that the government intends to hoodwink the public by announcing a populist budget.</p>
<p>
Meanwhile, former finance minister Surendra Pandey said that the government needs to amend the Public Procurement Act as it takes years to complete a single project under the existing provisions of the law.</p>
