April 16: The 56<sup>th</sup> annual audit report of the Office of the Auditor General has revealed that the government purchased 254 extra vehicles in the fiscal year 2074/75. According to the report, the government had purchased vehicles worth Rs 6,614,537,000 during the review period.</p>

Altogether 22 ministries of the federal government had purchased 1,024 four-wheelers including cars, jeep, pick-up vans. Likewise, 6,909 two-wheelers were purchased during the last FY. According to the report, there are only 1,323 human resources in those ministries while there are 1,577 four-wheelers. The Office of the Auditor General has suggested to hand over the excess vehicles to other important sectors.</p>

8 vehicles utilized for personal use</p>
<p>
The report has further mentioned that eight Prado vehicles that were purchased for Chameliya Hydropower Project were being used for personal use. The report claims that those vehicles are being used by the former officials of the project for their personal use. Though the project had decided to return those vehicles to the government on March 30, 2010, they have not been returned yet.</p>
