<p>They made such remarks during an interaction program programme on &lsquo;Nepal-China relations and Contours for Economic Cooperation&#39; organized by South Asia Watch on Trade, Economics and Environment (SAWTEE), on Friday, June 15.</p>

<p>While deepening cooperation with China, Nepal should have substantial freedom of choice by ensuring that it does not become overly dependent, pointed out Gyan Chandra Acharya, former Under-Secretary-General of the United Nations, during the interaction program.</p>

<p>In his presentation, he cautioned that greater Nepal-China relations should not however mean shifting dependency from India to China.</p>

<p>In the name of connectivity, if Nepal only builds infrastructure without corresponding improvement in productive capacity, then the roads and railways would become like white elephant, he warned.</p>

<p>&quot;Although Nepal currently has comfortable debt level, caution should be taken to avoid debt trap,&quot; he added.</p>

<p>Rajan Bhattarai, member of Nepal-India Eminent Persons Group, also pointed out that Nepal needs to lay foundation for developing mass-transit system referring to rail connectivity.</p>

<p>He also informed that the current government&rsquo;s emphasis appears to be on grant modality, rather than loans,for the construction of prospective railway projects.</p>

<p>Former foreign affairs secretary Madhu Raman Acharya, however, opined that road to national prosperity cannot be on grant alone and thus alternative modalities of funding projects like concessional loans can be utilized provided that the projects offer substantial benefits to Nepal.</p>

<p>He asserted that Nepal should also contemplate upon factors that have been preventing implementation of the existing agreements between the two countries.</p>

<p>Dr Posh Raj Pandey, chairman of SAWTEE, emphasized that strategic independence must be ensured during the negotiations while reiterating that Nepal should be careful not to shift dependency between neighbours.</p>

<p>Gyanendra Lal Pradhan of FNCCI pointed out the need for balancing relationship between India and China, for which Nepal could emulate Bangladesh as an example.</p>

<p>Given the expertise of Chinese in railway engineering, transport infrastructure expert Dr Surya Raj Acharya pointed out that Trans-Himalayan railway is technically feasible but the government&rsquo;s lack of experts in the area&nbsp; has been a major obstacle.</p>

<p>Referring to PM KP Oli&rsquo;s visit to China, Dr Jagadish Chandra Pokharel, former vice chairperson of National Planning Commission, insisted that national consensus should be reflected in agreements that the two nations pursue.</p>

<p>The participants present in the discussion program had a consensus view that Nepal should have a clear agenda for its national interests and also echoed the view that agreements reached with the neighbours have to be followed through with effective and timely implementation. The round table brought together a cross-section of stakeholders, including policy makers, diplomats, scholars, and private-sector to identify priorities for Nepal in upcoming negotiations with China.</p>

<p>The course on mobile technology and entrepreneurship, based on MIT&rsquo;s unique approach, will engage 35 selected KU students and young alumni.</p>

<p>&quot;The intensive boot camp is led by 4 MIT instructors and is unique in that it is a student-to-student lab. Commencing on June 15 and concluding on August 2 with a Demo Day that will highlight their team project prototypes, the goal is to both educate students to entrepreneurship and to help foster startups,&quot; the statement further said.</p>

<p>Globally, MIT GSL partners with universities and companies in emerging regions and organizes advanced courses taught by MIT instructors. The MIT GSL program focuses on mobile and internet technologies and is structured so that students are exposed to the commercial possibilities of technologies. Components of the course include detailed technical curriculum, market research, team development, and business model execution, learning to pitch ideas, guest lectures, and networking events, all to help students realize the potential of their ideas. All of this culminates on Demo Day, sponsored by Ncell, with the student teams delivering pitches and prototypes as part of this funded business competition.</p>

<p>For the inaugural year, the program targets students and alumni of KU who aspire to make a change through innovative digital business ideas. The program will be implemented in two phases, wherein 35 selected students will first undergo intensive training to accelerate and refine their digital ideas, and in the second phase, the teams turn their ideas into viable products and businesses. An ecosystem of resources, mentorship, inspiration, and opportunities brought together by MIT, KU, and Ncell will facilitate them through these processes, the statement concluded.</p>

Available for Rs 22,490, the new Samsung AX3000 Air Purifier gives faster air purification with higher Clean Air Delivery Rate (CADR) of 327m<sup>3</sup>/h and covers a large area of up to 39 sq mtrs. According to the company, the triple premium filters provide extra protection and results in a fresh and pollution-free air by up to 99 percent. AX3000 is equipped with the three outstanding filters, pre filter, deodorization filter and PM2.5 filter.</p>

<p>While deepening cooperation with China, Nepal should have substantial freedom of choice by ensuring that it does not become overly dependent, pointed out Gyan Chandra Acharya, former Under-Secretary-General of the United Nations, during the interaction program.</p>

<p>In his presentation, he cautioned that greater Nepal-China relations should not however mean shifting dependency from India to China.</p>

<p>In the name of connectivity, if Nepal only builds infrastructure without corresponding improvement in productive capacity, then the roads and railways would become like white elephant, he warned.</p>

<p>&quot;Although Nepal currently has comfortable debt level, caution should be taken to avoid debt trap,&quot; he added.</p>

<p>Rajan Bhattarai, member of Nepal-India Eminent Persons Group, also pointed out that Nepal needs to lay foundation for developing mass-transit system referring to rail connectivity.</p>

<p>He also informed that the current government&rsquo;s emphasis appears to be on grant modality, rather than loans,for the construction of prospective railway projects.</p>

<p>Former foreign affairs secretary Madhu Raman Acharya, however, opined that road to national prosperity cannot be on grant alone and thus alternative modalities of funding projects like concessional loans can be utilized provided that the projects offer substantial benefits to Nepal.</p>

<p>He asserted that Nepal should also contemplate upon factors that have been preventing implementation of the existing agreements between the two countries.</p>

<p>Dr Posh Raj Pandey, chairman of SAWTEE, emphasized that strategic independence must be ensured during the negotiations while reiterating that Nepal should be careful not to shift dependency between neighbours.</p>

<p>Gyanendra Lal Pradhan of FNCCI pointed out the need for balancing relationship between India and China, for which Nepal could emulate Bangladesh as an example.</p>

<p>Given the expertise of Chinese in railway engineering, transport infrastructure expert Dr Surya Raj Acharya pointed out that Trans-Himalayan railway is technically feasible but the government&rsquo;s lack of experts in the area&nbsp; has been a major obstacle.</p>

<p>Referring to PM KP Oli&rsquo;s visit to China, Dr Jagadish Chandra Pokharel, former vice chairperson of National Planning Commission, insisted that national consensus should be reflected in agreements that the two nations pursue.</p>

<p>The participants present in the discussion program had a consensus view that Nepal should have a clear agenda for its national interests and also echoed the view that agreements reached with the neighbours have to be followed through with effective and timely implementation. The round table brought together a cross-section of stakeholders, including policy makers, diplomats, scholars, and private-sector to identify priorities for Nepal in upcoming negotiations with China.</p>

<p>Sri Lankan ambassador to Nepal, Swarna Perera; cultural affairs officer of the US Embassy to Nepal, Grace Caroll; senior director of Nepal Telecommunications Authority, Ananda Raj Khanal; registrar of KU, Prof Dr Bhola Thapa, MIT faculty co-director for&nbsp;GSL, Prof Saman Amarasinghe, and managing director of Ncell Suren J Amarasekera jointly inaugurated the MIT GSL in Nepal amid a function in the capital.</p>

<p>The course on mobile technology and entrepreneurship, based on MIT&rsquo;s unique approach, will engage 35 selected KU students and young alumni.</p>

<p>&quot;The intensive boot camp is led by 4 MIT instructors and is unique in that it is a student-to-student lab. Commencing on June 15 and concluding on August 2 with a Demo Day that will highlight their team project prototypes, the goal is to both educate students to entrepreneurship and to help foster startups,&quot; the statement further said.</p>

<p>MIT GSL &ndash; Nepal will be an intensive 7-week innovation boot camp, where the students will develop startup projects - from ideation stage to execution of technology startups. &nbsp;</p>

<p>Globally, MIT GSL partners with universities and companies in emerging regions and organizes advanced courses taught by MIT instructors. The MIT GSL program focuses on mobile and internet technologies and is structured so that students are exposed to the commercial possibilities of technologies. Components of the course include detailed technical curriculum, market research, team development, and business model execution, learning to pitch ideas, guest lectures, and networking events, all to help students realize the potential of their ideas. All of this culminates on Demo Day, sponsored by Ncell, with the student teams delivering pitches and prototypes as part of this funded business competition.</p>

<p>For the inaugural year, the program targets students and alumni of KU who aspire to make a change through innovative digital business ideas. The program will be implemented in two phases, wherein 35 selected students will first undergo intensive training to accelerate and refine their digital ideas, and in the second phase, the teams turn their ideas into viable products and businesses. An ecosystem of resources, mentorship, inspiration, and opportunities brought together by MIT, KU, and Ncell will facilitate them through these processes, the statement concluded.</p>

<p>They made such remarks during an interaction program programme on &lsquo;Nepal-China relations and Contours for Economic Cooperation&#39; organized by South Asia Watch on Trade, Economics and Environment (SAWTEE), on Friday, June 15.</p>

<p>While deepening cooperation with China, Nepal should have substantial freedom of choice by ensuring that it does not become overly dependent, pointed out Gyan Chandra Acharya, former Under-Secretary-General of the United Nations, during the interaction program.</p>

<p>In his presentation, he cautioned that greater Nepal-China relations should not however mean shifting dependency from India to China.</p>

<p>In the name of connectivity, if Nepal only builds infrastructure without corresponding improvement in productive capacity, then the roads and railways would become like white elephant, he warned.</p>

<p>&quot;Although Nepal currently has comfortable debt level, caution should be taken to avoid debt trap,&quot; he added.</p>

<p>Rajan Bhattarai, member of Nepal-India Eminent Persons Group, also pointed out that Nepal needs to lay foundation for developing mass-transit system referring to rail connectivity.</p>

<p>He also informed that the current government&rsquo;s emphasis appears to be on grant modality, rather than loans,for the construction of prospective railway projects.</p>

<p>Former foreign affairs secretary Madhu Raman Acharya, however, opined that road to national prosperity cannot be on grant alone and thus alternative modalities of funding projects like concessional loans can be utilized provided that the projects offer substantial benefits to Nepal.</p>

<p>He asserted that Nepal should also contemplate upon factors that have been preventing implementation of the existing agreements between the two countries.</p>

<p>Dr Posh Raj Pandey, chairman of SAWTEE, emphasized that strategic independence must be ensured during the negotiations while reiterating that Nepal should be careful not to shift dependency between neighbours.</p>

<p>Gyanendra Lal Pradhan of FNCCI pointed out the need for balancing relationship between India and China, for which Nepal could emulate Bangladesh as an example.</p>

<p>Given the expertise of Chinese in railway engineering, transport infrastructure expert Dr Surya Raj Acharya pointed out that Trans-Himalayan railway is technically feasible but the government&rsquo;s lack of experts in the area&nbsp; has been a major obstacle.</p>

<p>Referring to PM KP Oli&rsquo;s visit to China, Dr Jagadish Chandra Pokharel, former vice chairperson of National Planning Commission, insisted that national consensus should be reflected in agreements that the two nations pursue.</p>

<p>The participants present in the discussion program had a consensus view that Nepal should have a clear agenda for its national interests and also echoed the view that agreements reached with the neighbours have to be followed through with effective and timely implementation. The round table brought together a cross-section of stakeholders, including policy makers, diplomats, scholars, and private-sector to identify priorities for Nepal in upcoming negotiations with China.</p>

The MIT GSL program focuses on mobile and internet technologies and is structured so that students are exposed to the commercial possibilities of technologies. Components of the course include detailed technical curriculum, market research, team development, and business model execution, learning to pitch ideas, guest lectures, and networking events, all to help students realize the potential of their ideas. All of this culminates on Demo Day, sponsored by Ncell, with the student teams delivering pitches and prototypes as part of this funded business competition.</p>

<p>For the inaugural year, the program targets students and alumni of KU who aspire to make a change through innovative digital business ideas. The program will be implemented in two phases, wherein 35 selected students will first undergo intensive training to accelerate and refine their digital ideas, and in the second phase, the teams turn their ideas into viable products and businesses. An ecosystem of resources, mentorship, inspiration, and opportunities brought together by MIT, KU, and Ncell will facilitate them through these processes, the statement concluded.</p>

<p>They made such remarks during an interaction program programme on &lsquo;Nepal-China relations and Contours for Economic Cooperation&#39; organized by South Asia Watch on Trade, Economics and Environment (SAWTEE), on Friday, June 15.</p>

<p>While deepening cooperation with China, Nepal should have substantial freedom of choice by ensuring that it does not become overly dependent, pointed out Gyan Chandra Acharya, former Under-Secretary-General of the United Nations, during the interaction program.</p>

<p>In his presentation, he cautioned that greater Nepal-China relations should not however mean shifting dependency from India to China.</p>

<p>In the name of connectivity, if Nepal only builds infrastructure without corresponding improvement in productive capacity, then the roads and railways would become like white elephant, he warned.</p>

<p>&quot;Although Nepal currently has comfortable debt level, caution should be taken to avoid debt trap,&quot; he added.</p>

<p>Rajan Bhattarai, member of Nepal-India Eminent Persons Group, also pointed out that Nepal needs to lay foundation for developing mass-transit system referring to rail connectivity.</p>

<p>He also informed that the current government&rsquo;s emphasis appears to be on grant modality, rather than loans,for the construction of prospective railway projects.</p>

<p>Former foreign affairs secretary Madhu Raman Acharya, however, opined that road to national prosperity cannot be on grant alone and thus alternative modalities of funding projects like concessional loans can be utilized provided that the projects offer substantial benefits to Nepal.</p>

<p>He asserted that Nepal should also contemplate upon factors that have been preventing implementation of the existing agreements between the two countries.</p>

<p>Dr Posh Raj Pandey, chairman of SAWTEE, emphasized that strategic independence must be ensured during the negotiations while reiterating that Nepal should be careful not to shift dependency between neighbours.</p>

<p>Gyanendra Lal Pradhan of FNCCI pointed out the need for balancing relationship between India and China, for which Nepal could emulate Bangladesh as an example.</p>

<p>Given the expertise of Chinese in railway engineering, transport infrastructure expert Dr Surya Raj Acharya pointed out that Trans-Himalayan railway is technically feasible but the government&rsquo;s lack of experts in the area&nbsp; has been a major obstacle.</p>

<p>Referring to PM KP Oli&rsquo;s visit to China, Dr Jagadish Chandra Pokharel, former vice chairperson of National Planning Commission, insisted that national consensus should be reflected in agreements that the two nations pursue.</p>

<p>The participants present in the discussion program had a consensus view that Nepal should have a clear agenda for its national interests and also echoed the view that agreements reached with the neighbours have to be followed through with effective and timely implementation. The round table brought together a cross-section of stakeholders, including policy makers, diplomats, scholars, and private-sector to identify priorities for Nepal in upcoming negotiations with China.</p>

All of this culminates on Demo Day, sponsored by Ncell, with the student teams delivering pitches and prototypes as part of this funded business competition.</p>

<p>For the inaugural year, the program targets students and alumni of KU who aspire to make a change through innovative digital business ideas. Samsung&rsquo;s AX3000 Air Purifier provides faster purification through advanced PM2.5 filters. According to the company, PM2.5 filter is a mechanical air filter that works by forcing air through a fine mesh and traps harmful particles in the air.</p>

<p>Samsung said in a statement that its air purifiers are designed to combat indoor pollution in the most effective way with the least power consumption, the company said in a statement. Available for Rs 22,490, the new Samsung AX3000 Air Purifier gives faster air purification with higher Clean Air Delivery Rate (CADR) of 327m<sup>3</sup>/h and covers a large area of up to 39 sq mtrs. According to the company, the triple premium filters provide extra protection and results in a fresh and pollution-free air by up to 99 percent. AX3000 is equipped with the three outstanding filters, pre filter, deodorization filter and PM2.5 filter.</p>

<p>The AX3000 also comes with a digital display with various colour lights that show the pollution drop on a real time basis and the sensors give an exact numeric measurement of the PM2.5 (ultra-fine dust) levels.</p>
