	Qatar Airways has been honoured in Dubai with the Best Cabin Crew in the world award as voted by readers of the Middle East edition of the magazine Business Traveller. The Doha-based airline was voted ahead of neighbouring airlines for its five-star service to take the coveted award, presented at a ceremony held at the Address Hotel Dubai Marina. Guests from across the regional and global travel, tourism and hospitality industries attended the annual event. Qatar Airways Country Manager UAE Fadi Hijazin collected the award on behalf of the airline.&nbsp;</p>

	Voting by readers of Business Traveller Middle East was based on the strength of the airline’s renowned in-flight service offered by its cabin crew to travellers. 	Earlier this week, Qatar Airways had announced route expansions on three continents together with a huge increase in capacity in Pakistan. The Ethiopian capital of Addis Ababa will become the carrier’s 20th destination on the African continent, launching on September 18, followed a month later by Clark International Airport in the Philippines from October 28. Effective March 1 next year, Philadelphia will become the airline’s fifth US gateway.&nbsp;</p>',

	United Arab Emirates, will be commencing daily nonstop flights between its home base of Abu Dhabi and Belgrade, the capital of Serbia from June 15, 2013.JatAirways, Serbia’s national carrier, will place its JU code on the new service, as well as to 21 destinations on the Etihad Airways network. In return, Etihad Airways will place its EY code on 23 of JatAirways’ European flights.</p>

	Etihad Airways will operate a two cabin Airbus A319 aircraft on the service between Abu Dhabi and Belgrade, configured to carry 106 passengers, with 16 seats in Pearl Business Class and 90 seats in Coral Economy Class.&nbsp;</p>
<p>
	The announcement was made on April 15, at a media conference in Belgrade hosted by James Hogan, Etihad Airways’ President and Chief Executive Officer. “The launch of Etihad Airways’ flights between Abu Dhabi and Belgrade, and the partnership development with JatAirways, will cater for the significant and growing demand for air travel between the UAE and Serbia, as well as cities with large Serbian populations around the world, particularly in Australia and the US,” said Hogan at the event.&nbsp;</p>
<p>
	As part of the codeshare agreement, subject to government and regulatory approval, JatAirways will place its JU code on Etihad Airways flights to Abu Dhabi and beyond to Bangkok, Beijing, Brisbane, Chengdu, Chicago, Colombo, Ho Chi Minh City, Islamabad, Johannesburg and Karachi among others.</p>

	In return, subject to government and regulatory approval, Etihad Airways will place its EY code on JatAirways flights between Belgrade and Amsterdam, Athens, Berlin, Brussels, Copenhagen, Düsseldorf, Rome, Frankfurt, Gothenburg, Istanbul, Heathrow, Larnaca, Milan, Moscow and other cities.</p>

	Belgrade will become the third of six new destinations to be served by Etihad Airways in 2013, following the launch in March of flights to Washington, DC, and in May to Amsterdam.Services will commence later this year to Sao Paulo, Brazil; Sana’a, Yemen; and Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam.</p>',

	Asian Development Bank (ADB) will be spending Rs 7 billion for the improvement of Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA). The major portion of the amount will be spent in the development of infrastructures. According to Punya Raj Shakya, Project Director of Tribhuvan International Airport Improvement Project, Rs 5.25 billion is allocated for the physical infrastructure development. “The work is already in the process with a plan to complete it within three years,” said Shakya. Under the programme, airport’s runway will be widened by 300 meters, the regular work procedure of Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal will be divided and passenger’s waiting area and parking area will be increased by double. The amount will also be spent in installing Visual Approach Guidance System in Lukla airport to facilitate landing. The system will be installed in Tribhuvan International Airport and Lukla airport by December.</p>
<p>
	TIA currently has only two wide bodies and seven narrow bodies parking that can accommodate only nine aircrafts at once. This has been causing continuous delay in international flights and expansion of the parking area was needed. Under the prograame, 55 CCTVs, three X-ray machines will also be added and the lighting system will also be improved. The construction of internal terminal building is also in the process which will cost around 100 million rupees. &nbsp;Out of ADB’s total assistance, USD0 70 million is provided as loan and USD 10 million as grant.&nbsp;</p>

	With the launch of thrice-weekly passenger services between Chicago and Qatar Airways’ hub in Doha, capital of the State of Qatar, Chicago becomes the destination number 126 in the airline’s worldwide network. Qatar Airways now operates 24 passenger flights a week between the United States and Doha – daily from New York, Washington DC and Houston and the new thrice-weekly services from Chicago.</p>

	Effective on June 15, the Chicago-Doha route will increase to a daily service. Meanwhile, the company has also announced its plans to launch scheduled flights to two destinations in Iraq, starting this summer.&nbsp;</p>

He said so in a programme organized by tourism entrepreneurs from various parts of Nepal. &nbsp;In the programme, Shrestha stated that &nbsp;the flights will start after repairing the grounded aircrafts.&nbsp;</p>
<p>
	Although NAC has five aircrafts for domestic flights, only two aircrafts, 9N-ABO and ABT, are in operation. Three aircrafts, 9N ABB, ABU and ABX flights are still grounded. According to Shrestha, &nbsp;the aircrafts will be promptly repaired, with a cost of around Rs 160 million, and the NAC authorities will be directed to operate the flights soon.&nbsp;</p>
<p>
	He also said that If NAC isn’t able to start the flights within three months, the repaired aircrafts will be given to the private sector on lease, and the private sector will have to pay Rs 1 million per month and per aircraft.</p>',

	Buddha Air captured 56 per cent of the aviation market share carrying 881,611 passengers in 2012. According to the Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal Office at Tribhuvan International Airport, Buddha Air’s passenger carriage increased by 12.35 per cent compared to 2011. Paras Jung Pandey, Sales and Marketing Director of the airline claimed, “If airlines flying to only urban destinations are considered, Buddha Air has 65 per cent market share.”</p>
<p>
	Buddha Air is currently operating to only urban destinations. According to Pandey, as the airline is offering competitive fares and operates with larger aircrafts having higher number of seats, its market presence is increasing year by year. &nbsp;Currently, Buddha Air is operating with five 72 seater and three 19 seater aircrafts. In 2011 too, Budha Air was the market leader carrying 691,000 passengers.</p>

Domestic airlines suffered a huge loss of Rs 172.8 million during the last fiscal year, says CAAN. Among the nine fixed-wing airlines, four enjoyed a net profit of Rs 162 million while the rest suffered a net loss of Rs 108.8 million in the last fiscal year.</p>

	The net profit of the six helicopter companies in the country stood at Rs 30.2 million in 2011-12, up from Rs 27.6 million in the previous fiscal year. Airlines operating on remote sectors are incurring losses while only a few that are flying trunk routes are earning profits, said CAAN, adding that an increase in insurance premium had also become a big headache for airlines. Around Rs 1 billion goes out of the country as insurance premium, according to the authority.&nbsp;</p>

	Nepal saw a significant growth in air transport after the aviation policy was liberalized in 1992. Aircraft movement jumped four-fold from 24,600 in 1992 to 95,000 in 2012. There are 55 fixed-wing aircraft and 26 helicopters in Nepal at present. Air traveller movement reached 1.03 million in 2008, 1.37 million in 2009 and 1.55 million in 2010. However, the growth rate slipped 2 percent to 1.58 million in 2011. In 2012, passenger movement fell 0.55 percent to 1.575 million, according to CAAN.</p>',

	Etihad Airways, the national airline of the United Arab Emirates, has concluded a transaction with Jet Airways to purchase the Indian carrier’s three pairs of Heathrow slots for US $70 million. According to the official press statement released by Etihad Airways, the purchase is part of a sale and lease back agreement signed on February 26, 2013. &nbsp;Jet Airways will continue to operate flights to London utilising these slots.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">
	The Airways has also decided to increase capacity on its daily flights between Abu Dhabi and Melbourne, introducing a new Boeing 777-300ER aircraft effective from December 1, 2013. The company says, that the three-class, 328-seat Boeing 777 will replace the current Airbus A340 fleet, delivering 252 more seats per week – a 12.3 per cent increase – between the capital of the State of Victoria and the capital of the UAE.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">
	The service upgrade was announced in Abu Dhabi by James Hogan, President and Chief Executive Officer of Etihad Airways. In another event, the airlines also went through system upgrades of its sales, website and check in systems on February 23. However, the upgrade process did not affect the scheduled flights.</p>

	Prior to upgrade, the airways informed its business partners, clients and passengers concerning the expected possible interruptions several times as the upgrade date was approached. Inconvenience during the upgrade period was kept to an absolute minimum, according to the airlines.</p>

	United Arab Emirates, will be commencing daily nonstop flights between its home base of Abu Dhabi and Belgrade, the capital of Serbia from June 15, 2013.JatAirways, Serbia’s national carrier, will place its JU code on the new service, as well as to 21 destinations on the Etihad Airways network. In return, Etihad Airways will place its EY code on 23 of JatAirways’ European flights.</p>

	Etihad Airways will operate a two cabin Airbus A319 aircraft on the service between Abu Dhabi and Belgrade, configured to carry 106 passengers, with 16 seats in Pearl Business Class and 90 seats in Coral Economy Class.&nbsp;</p>

	The announcement was made on April 15, at a media conference in Belgrade hosted by James Hogan, Etihad Airways’ President and Chief Executive Officer. “The launch of Etihad Airways’ flights between Abu Dhabi and Belgrade, and the partnership development with JatAirways, will cater for the significant and growing demand for air travel between the UAE and Serbia, as well as cities with large Serbian populations around the world, particularly in Australia and the US,” said Hogan at the event.&nbsp;</p>

	Asian Development Bank (ADB) will be spending Rs 7 billion for the improvement of Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA). The major portion of the amount will be spent in the development of infrastructures. According to Punya Raj Shakya, Project Director of Tribhuvan International Airport Improvement Project, Rs 5.25 billion is allocated for the physical infrastructure development. “The work is already in the process with a plan to complete it within three years,” said Shakya. Under the programme, airport’s runway will be widened by 300 meters, the regular work procedure of Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal will be divided and passenger’s waiting area and parking area will be increased by double. The amount will also be spent in installing Visual Approach Guidance System in Lukla airport to facilitate landing. The system will be installed in Tribhuvan International Airport and Lukla airport by December.</p>

	TIA currently has only two wide bodies and seven narrow bodies parking that can accommodate only nine aircrafts at once. This has been causing continuous delay in international flights and expansion of the parking area was needed. Under the prograame, 55 CCTVs, three X-ray machines will also be added and the lighting system will also be improved. The construction of internal terminal building is also in the process which will cost around 100 million rupees. &nbsp;Out of ADB’s total assistance, USD0 70 million is provided as loan and USD 10 million as grant.&nbsp;</p>

Qatar Airways now operates 24 passenger flights a week between the United States and Doha – daily from New York, Washington DC and Houston and the new thrice-weekly services from Chicago.</p>

	Effective on June 15, the Chicago-Doha route will increase to a daily service. Meanwhile, the company has also announced its plans to launch scheduled flights to two destinations in Iraq, starting this summer.&nbsp;</p>

He said so in a programme organized by tourism entrepreneurs from various parts of Nepal. &nbsp;In the programme, Shrestha stated that &nbsp;the flights will start after repairing the grounded aircrafts.&nbsp;</p>

	Although NAC has five aircrafts for domestic flights, only two aircrafts, 9N-ABO and ABT, are in operation. Three aircrafts, 9N ABB, ABU and ABX flights are still grounded. According to Shrestha, &nbsp;the aircrafts will be promptly repaired, with a cost of around Rs 160 million, and the NAC authorities will be directed to operate the flights soon.&nbsp;</p>

	He also said that If NAC isn’t able to start the flights within three months, the repaired aircrafts will be given to the private sector on lease, and the private sector will have to pay Rs 1 million per month and per aircraft.</p>',

Paras Jung Pandey, Sales and Marketing Director of the airline claimed, “If airlines flying to only urban destinations are considered, Buddha Air has 65 per cent market share.”</p>

	Buddha Air is currently operating to only urban destinations. According to Pandey, as the airline is offering competitive fares and operates with larger aircrafts having higher number of seats, its market presence is increasing year by year. &nbsp;Currently, Buddha Air is operating with five 72 seater and three 19 seater aircrafts. In 2011 too, Budha Air was the market leader carrying 691,000 passengers.</p>

	Pandey said, “Air passengers are constantly increasing and we have been able offer fares that suit their paying capacity. So, airline’s market share is increasing accordingly.” Out of seven regularly operating domestic airlines, remaining six airlines have only 44 per cent market share. 	Nepal’s private airlines are bearing the brunt of higher fuel prices, hefty insurance premiums and fluctuation in passengers’ flow, according to regulator Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal (CAAN). Domestic airlines suffered a huge loss of Rs 172.8 million during the last fiscal year, says CAAN. Among the nine fixed-wing airlines, four enjoyed a net profit of Rs 162 million while the rest suffered a net loss of Rs 108.8 million in the last fiscal year.</p>
<p>
	The net profit of the six helicopter companies in the country stood at Rs 30.2 million in 2011-12, up from Rs 27.6 million in the previous fiscal year. Airlines operating on remote sectors are incurring losses while only a few that are flying trunk routes are earning profits, said CAAN, adding that an increase in insurance premium had also become a big headache for airlines. Around Rs 1 billion goes out of the country as insurance premium, according to the authority.&nbsp;</p>
<p>
	Nepal saw a significant growth in air transport after the aviation policy was liberalized in 1992. Aircraft movement jumped four-fold from 24,600 in 1992 to 95,000 in 2012. There are 55 fixed-wing aircraft and 26 helicopters in Nepal at present. Air traveller movement reached 1.03 million in 2008, 1.37 million in 2009 and 1.55 million in 2010. However, the growth rate slipped 2 percent to 1.58 million in 2011. In 2012, passenger movement fell 0.55 percent to 1.575 million, according to CAAN.</p>',

	Releasing the list of global airlines’ on time flight punctuality for the month of January 2013, Flightstats, the leader in global flight and airport information services, has ranked Gulf Air at the eighth position with a punctuality rate of 85.21 per cent. The awards recognize operational excellence in air travel for all commercial carriers globally and regionally.&nbsp;</p>

	Gulf Air Acting Chief Executive Officer, Maher Salman Al Musallam commented, “Being ranked among top ten global airlines is a significant milestone for Gulf Air that bears testimony to our on-time performance excellence. 	Etihad Airways, the national airline of the United Arab Emirates, has concluded a transaction with Jet Airways to purchase the Indian carrier’s three pairs of Heathrow slots for US $70 million. According to the official press statement released by Etihad Airways, the purchase is part of a sale and lease back agreement signed on February 26, 2013. &nbsp;Jet Airways will continue to operate flights to London utilising these slots.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">
	The Airways has also decided to increase capacity on its daily flights between Abu Dhabi and Melbourne, introducing a new Boeing 777-300ER aircraft effective from December 1, 2013. The company says, that the three-class, 328-seat Boeing 777 will replace the current Airbus A340 fleet, delivering 252 more seats per week – a 12.3 per cent increase – between the capital of the State of Victoria and the capital of the UAE.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">
	The service upgrade was announced in Abu Dhabi by James Hogan, President and Chief Executive Officer of Etihad Airways. In another event, the airlines also went through system upgrades of its sales, website and check in systems on February 23. However, the upgrade process did not affect the scheduled flights.</p>

	Prior to upgrade, the airways informed its business partners, clients and passengers concerning the expected possible interruptions several times as the upgrade date was approached. Inconvenience during the upgrade period was kept to an absolute minimum, according to the airlines.</p>

In return, Etihad Airways will place its EY code on 23 of JatAirways’ European flights.</p>

	Etihad Airways will operate a two cabin Airbus A319 aircraft on the service between Abu Dhabi and Belgrade, configured to carry 106 passengers, with 16 seats in Pearl Business Class and 90 seats in Coral Economy Class.&nbsp;</p>

	The announcement was made on April 15, at a media conference in Belgrade hosted by James Hogan, Etihad Airways’ President and Chief Executive Officer. “The launch of Etihad Airways’ flights between Abu Dhabi and Belgrade, and the partnership development with JatAirways, will cater for the significant and growing demand for air travel between the UAE and Serbia, as well as cities with large Serbian populations around the world, particularly in Australia and the US,” said Hogan at the event.&nbsp;</p>

	As part of the codeshare agreement, subject to government and regulatory approval, JatAirways will place its JU code on Etihad Airways flights to Abu Dhabi and beyond to Bangkok, Beijing, Brisbane, Chengdu, Chicago, Colombo, Ho Chi Minh City, Islamabad, Johannesburg and Karachi among others.</p>

	Asian Development Bank (ADB) will be spending Rs 7 billion for the improvement of Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA). The major portion of the amount will be spent in the development of infrastructures. According to Punya Raj Shakya, Project Director of Tribhuvan International Airport Improvement Project, Rs 5.25 billion is allocated for the physical infrastructure development. “The work is already in the process with a plan to complete it within three years,” said Shakya. Under the programme, airport’s runway will be widened by 300 meters, the regular work procedure of Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal will be divided and passenger’s waiting area and parking area will be increased by double. The amount will also be spent in installing Visual Approach Guidance System in Lukla airport to facilitate landing. The system will be installed in Tribhuvan International Airport and Lukla airport by December.</p>

	TIA currently has only two wide bodies and seven narrow bodies parking that can accommodate only nine aircrafts at once. This has been causing continuous delay in international flights and expansion of the parking area was needed. Under the prograame, 55 CCTVs, three X-ray machines will also be added and the lighting system will also be improved. The construction of internal terminal building is also in the process which will cost around 100 million rupees. &nbsp;Out of ADB’s total assistance, USD0 70 million is provided as loan and USD 10 million as grant.&nbsp;</p>

	Although NAC has five aircrafts for domestic flights, only two aircrafts, 9N-ABO and ABT, are in operation. Three aircrafts, 9N ABB, ABU and ABX flights are still grounded. According to Shrestha, &nbsp;the aircrafts will be promptly repaired, with a cost of around Rs 160 million, and the NAC authorities will be directed to operate the flights soon.&nbsp;</p>

	He also said that If NAC isn’t able to start the flights within three months, the repaired aircrafts will be given to the private sector on lease, and the private sector will have to pay Rs 1 million per month and per aircraft.</p>',

	Nepal’s private airlines are bearing the brunt of higher fuel prices, hefty insurance premiums and fluctuation in passengers’ flow, according to regulator Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal (CAAN). Domestic airlines suffered a huge loss of Rs 172.8 million during the last fiscal year, says CAAN. Among the nine fixed-wing airlines, four enjoyed a net profit of Rs 162 million while the rest suffered a net loss of Rs 108.8 million in the last fiscal year.</p>
<p>
	The net profit of the six helicopter companies in the country stood at Rs 30.2 million in 2011-12, up from Rs 27.6 million in the previous fiscal year. Airlines operating on remote sectors are incurring losses while only a few that are flying trunk routes are earning profits, said CAAN, adding that an increase in insurance premium had also become a big headache for airlines. Around Rs 1 billion goes out of the country as insurance premium, according to the authority.&nbsp;</p>
<p>
	Nepal saw a significant growth in air transport after the aviation policy was liberalized in 1992. Aircraft movement jumped four-fold from 24,600 in 1992 to 95,000 in 2012. There are 55 fixed-wing aircraft and 26 helicopters in Nepal at present. Air traveller movement reached 1.03 million in 2008, 1.37 million in 2009 and 1.55 million in 2010. However, the growth rate slipped 2 percent to 1.58 million in 2011. In 2012, passenger movement fell 0.55 percent to 1.575 million, according to CAAN.</p>',

	Shree Airlines (SA) has added Eurocopter’s latest six seater AS350 B3e helicopter to its fleet. According to the company, AS350 B3e is a high performance latest model of Eurocopter equipped with the latest Arriel 2D engine. With the latest addition, SA now has a fleet of seven helicopters.</p>

	This is the first time the company has bought a six seater helicopter. The Eurocopter was purchased at Rs 200 million, according to Banwari Lal Mittal, CEO of SA. SA has been providing helicopter services for past 14 years in the country.</p>

	Releasing the list of global airlines’ on time flight punctuality for the month of January 2013, Flightstats, the leader in global flight and airport information services, has ranked Gulf Air at the eighth position with a punctuality rate of 85.21 per cent. The awards recognize operational excellence in air travel for all commercial carriers globally and regionally.&nbsp;</p>

	Etihad Airways, the national airline of the United Arab Emirates, has concluded a transaction with Jet Airways to purchase the Indian carrier’s three pairs of Heathrow slots for US $70 million. According to the official press statement released by Etihad Airways, the purchase is part of a sale and lease back agreement signed on February 26, 2013. &nbsp;Jet Airways will continue to operate flights to London utilising these slots.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">
	The Airways has also decided to increase capacity on its daily flights between Abu Dhabi and Melbourne, introducing a new Boeing 777-300ER aircraft effective from December 1, 2013. The company says, that the three-class, 328-seat Boeing 777 will replace the current Airbus A340 fleet, delivering 252 more seats per week – a 12.3 per cent increase – between the capital of the State of Victoria and the capital of the UAE.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">
	The service upgrade was announced in Abu Dhabi by James Hogan, President and Chief Executive Officer of Etihad Airways. In another event, the airlines also went through system upgrades of its sales, website and check in systems on February 23. However, the upgrade process did not affect the scheduled flights.</p>

	Prior to upgrade, the airways informed its business partners, clients and passengers concerning the expected possible interruptions several times as the upgrade date was approached. Inconvenience during the upgrade period was kept to an absolute minimum, according to the airlines.</p>

	United Arab Emirates, will be commencing daily nonstop flights between its home base of Abu Dhabi and Belgrade, the capital of Serbia from June 15, 2013.JatAirways, Serbia’s national carrier, will place its JU code on the new service, as well as to 21 destinations on the Etihad Airways network. In return, Etihad Airways will place its EY code on 23 of JatAirways’ European flights.</p>

	Etihad Airways will operate a two cabin Airbus A319 aircraft on the service between Abu Dhabi and Belgrade, configured to carry 106 passengers, with 16 seats in Pearl Business Class and 90 seats in Coral Economy Class.&nbsp;</p>

	The announcement was made on April 15, at a media conference in Belgrade hosted by James Hogan, Etihad Airways’ President and Chief Executive Officer. “The launch of Etihad Airways’ flights between Abu Dhabi and Belgrade, and the partnership development with JatAirways, will cater for the significant and growing demand for air travel between the UAE and Serbia, as well as cities with large Serbian populations around the world, particularly in Australia and the US,” said Hogan at the event.&nbsp;</p>

	As part of the codeshare agreement, subject to government and regulatory approval, JatAirways will place its JU code on Etihad Airways flights to Abu Dhabi and beyond to Bangkok, Beijing, Brisbane, Chengdu, Chicago, Colombo, Ho Chi Minh City, Islamabad, Johannesburg and Karachi among others.</p>

	Asian Development Bank (ADB) will be spending Rs 7 billion for the improvement of Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA). The major portion of the amount will be spent in the development of infrastructures. According to Punya Raj Shakya, Project Director of Tribhuvan International Airport Improvement Project, Rs 5.25 billion is allocated for the physical infrastructure development. “The work is already in the process with a plan to complete it within three years,” said Shakya. Under the programme, airport’s runway will be widened by 300 meters, the regular work procedure of Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal will be divided and passenger’s waiting area and parking area will be increased by double. The amount will also be spent in installing Visual Approach Guidance System in Lukla airport to facilitate landing. The system will be installed in Tribhuvan International Airport and Lukla airport by December.</p>
<p>
	TIA currently has only two wide bodies and seven narrow bodies parking that can accommodate only nine aircrafts at once. This has been causing continuous delay in international flights and expansion of the parking area was needed. Under the prograame, 55 CCTVs, three X-ray machines will also be added and the lighting system will also be improved. The construction of internal terminal building is also in the process which will cost around 100 million rupees. &nbsp;Out of ADB’s total assistance, USD0 70 million is provided as loan and USD 10 million as grant.&nbsp;</p>

	Nepal Airlines Corporation (NAC) will be ready to start the flights of its grounded domestic aircrafts within three months, said Ram Kumar Shrestha, Minister for Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation. He said so in a programme organized by tourism entrepreneurs from various parts of Nepal. &nbsp;In the programme, Shrestha stated that &nbsp;the flights will start after repairing the grounded aircrafts.&nbsp;</p>

	Although NAC has five aircrafts for domestic flights, only two aircrafts, 9N-ABO and ABT, are in operation. Three aircrafts, 9N ABB, ABU and ABX flights are still grounded. According to Shrestha, &nbsp;the aircrafts will be promptly repaired, with a cost of around Rs 160 million, and the NAC authorities will be directed to operate the flights soon.&nbsp;</p>

	He also said that If NAC isn’t able to start the flights within three months, the repaired aircrafts will be given to the private sector on lease, and the private sector will have to pay Rs 1 million per month and per aircraft.</p>',

Paras Jung Pandey, Sales and Marketing Director of the airline claimed, “If airlines flying to only urban destinations are considered, Buddha Air has 65 per cent market share.”</p>

	Buddha Air is currently operating to only urban destinations. According to Pandey, as the airline is offering competitive fares and operates with larger aircrafts having higher number of seats, its market presence is increasing year by year. &nbsp;Currently, Buddha Air is operating with five 72 seater and three 19 seater aircrafts. In 2011 too, Budha Air was the market leader carrying 691,000 passengers.</p>

	Pandey said, “Air passengers are constantly increasing and we have been able offer fares that suit their paying capacity. So, airline’s market share is increasing accordingly.” Out of seven regularly operating domestic airlines, remaining six airlines have only 44 per cent market share. Yeti Airlines has second highest market share of 28.74 per cent carrying 452,806 in 2012. All domestic airlines that operate regular flights carried 1.56 million passengers in 2012.&nbsp;</p>',

	Nepal’s private airlines are bearing the brunt of higher fuel prices, hefty insurance premiums and fluctuation in passengers’ flow, according to regulator Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal (CAAN). Domestic airlines suffered a huge loss of Rs 172.8 million during the last fiscal year, says CAAN. Among the nine fixed-wing airlines, four enjoyed a net profit of Rs 162 million while the rest suffered a net loss of Rs 108.8 million in the last fiscal year.</p>
<p>
	The net profit of the six helicopter companies in the country stood at Rs 30.2 million in 2011-12, up from Rs 27.6 million in the previous fiscal year. Airlines operating on remote sectors are incurring losses while only a few that are flying trunk routes are earning profits, said CAAN, adding that an increase in insurance premium had also become a big headache for airlines. Around Rs 1 billion goes out of the country as insurance premium, according to the authority.&nbsp;</p>
<p>
	Nepal saw a significant growth in air transport after the aviation policy was liberalized in 1992. Aircraft movement jumped four-fold from 24,600 in 1992 to 95,000 in 2012. There are 55 fixed-wing aircraft and 26 helicopters in Nepal at present. Air traveller movement reached 1.03 million in 2008, 1.37 million in 2009 and 1.55 million in 2010. However, the growth rate slipped 2 percent to 1.58 million in 2011. In 2012, passenger movement fell 0.55 percent to 1.575 million, according to CAAN.</p>',

	Shree Airlines (SA) has added Eurocopter’s latest six seater AS350 B3e helicopter to its fleet. According to the company, AS350 B3e is a high performance latest model of Eurocopter equipped with the latest Arriel 2D engine. With the latest addition, SA now has a fleet of seven helicopters.</p>

	This is the first time the company has bought a six seater helicopter. The Eurocopter was purchased at Rs 200 million, according to Banwari Lal Mittal, CEO of SA. SA has been providing helicopter services for past 14 years in the country.</p>

	Releasing the list of global airlines’ on time flight punctuality for the month of January 2013, Flightstats, the leader in global flight and airport information services, has ranked Gulf Air at the eighth position with a punctuality rate of 85.21 per cent. The awards recognize operational excellence in air travel for all commercial carriers globally and regionally.&nbsp;</p>

	Gulf Air Acting Chief Executive Officer, Maher Salman Al Musallam commented, “Being ranked among top ten global airlines is a significant milestone for Gulf Air that bears testimony to our on-time performance excellence. Gulf Air has been ranked number one among the Middle East full service airlines throughout last year and we are proud of our consistent achievement of flight punctuality. This is an important factor for our customers, particularly our time-conscious business passengers, who have to reach their destinations on-time to conduct their business transactions.”</p>

	Etihad Airways, the national airline of the United Arab Emirates, has concluded a transaction with Jet Airways to purchase the Indian carrier’s three pairs of Heathrow slots for US $70 million. According to the official press statement released by Etihad Airways, the purchase is part of a sale and lease back agreement signed on February 26, 2013. &nbsp;Jet Airways will continue to operate flights to London utilising these slots.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">
	The Airways has also decided to increase capacity on its daily flights between Abu Dhabi and Melbourne, introducing a new Boeing 777-300ER aircraft effective from December 1, 2013. The company says, that the three-class, 328-seat Boeing 777 will replace the current Airbus A340 fleet, delivering 252 more seats per week – a 12.3 per cent increase – between the capital of the State of Victoria and the capital of the UAE.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">
	The service upgrade was announced in Abu Dhabi by James Hogan, President and Chief Executive Officer of Etihad Airways. In another event, the airlines also went through system upgrades of its sales, website and check in systems on February 23. However, the upgrade process did not affect the scheduled flights.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">
	Prior to upgrade, the airways informed its business partners, clients and passengers concerning the expected possible interruptions several times as the upgrade date was approached. Inconvenience during the upgrade period was kept to an absolute minimum, according to the airlines.</p>
