The latest Lumia 1520 is an excellent example of Nokia's endeavor which shows that the once no. 1 mobile manufacturer is again moving towards the right direction. </div> <div> </div> <div> The 6-inch Nano-SIM 1520 marks Nokia’s first entry into the increasingly popular "phablet" category. Powered by a Quad-core 2.2 GHz Krait 400 processor which uses Qualcomm MSM8974 Snapdragon 800 chipset, the phablet runs on Microsoft Windows Phone 8 Black operating system. The powerful processor coupled with Adreno 330 GPU and 2 GB RAM can handle any power-hungry application or video game very easily. The processing speed is blazing fast and users can also experience smooth multitasking. </div> <div> </div> <div> The handset's IPS LCD capacitive touch screen (with 16:9 aspect ratio) features full HD (1920 x 1080) resolution and 368 ppi pixel density. Images and videos come out vibrantly sharp and pleasantly bright as Lumia 1520 sports Nokia's ClearBlack multi-touch display. Due to this the screen's black levels are amazingly deep resulting in vibrant vivid colors, exceptional contrast and high brightness mode that gives above par outdoor visibility. Users need not to worry much about display's protection as the phablet's screen is well-covered by Corning Gorilla Glass 2 alkali-aluminosilicate sheet. The unibody polycarbonate shell of Lumia 1520 offers high grade protection to the device. </div> <div> </div> <div> However, the big dimensions (162.8 x 85.4 x 8.7 mm, 120.3 cc) make it uncomfortable to use the phablet with single hand. Similarly, on a less positive note, the weight of Lumia 1520 (209 grams) feels heavy to carry. Nevertheless, 1520 can be counted among the best in the business if it is considered as "bigger the better." </div> <div> </div> <div> On the camera front the phablet scores the highest. It is among the best in camera phone category with its 20 megapixel PureView snapper. Its camera is certainly incomparable to Nokia Lumia 1020 which sports an award-winning 40 MP camera. However, the dual-LED flash Carl Zeiss autofocus camera of Lumia 1520 captures amazingly high-quality images that come into life with superb colour combinations. When compared to other phones with high-end cameras, low-light images also look remarkable. The camera is operated through the “Nokia Camera” application. The app is quite notable as it has automatic mode which provides a simple interface for quick capturing of high-quality images. Accordingly, a "Pro" mode (for manually tuning basic camera-features such as ISO, white balance and shutter speed) and “Smart” mode (for snapping a series of 10 images in less than 3 seconds) are also present. </div> <div> </div> <div> Likewise, there is another camera app called the “Nokia Refocus” which uses a technology to create photos that mimic a Lytro camera (a light-field camera that uses a microlens array to capture 4D light field information about a scene). Lastly, the phablet has another new app called “Nokia Storyteller” which reads GPS location data from the photos and videos users have taken and puts them on Nokia’s HERE maps in a interactive interface. The rear camera can capture 1080p HD videos at 30 frames-per-second. The front-facing 1.2 MP snapper is also good for taking 720p videos @30fps. </div> <div> </div> <div> The sound quality of the phablet is amazing as it offers Dolby Headphone Sound Enhancement system. Be it for listening songs, FM radio or watching videos, the earbuds let users hear refined quality sounds along with active noise cancellation for the microphone. On the power backup front, the phablet is pretty strong with its 3,400 mAh non-removable Li-Ion battery. In terms of storage capacity, Lumia 1520 comes in two variants- 16 GB and 32 GB. There is a microSD card slot which can be used to further expand its storage up to 64 GB. </div> <div> </div> <div> Loaded with high-end internet and other latest connectivity options, Lumia 1520 is a premium handset which is the most impressive Windows Phone till date. Neoteric Nepal, the authorised distributor of Nokia mobiles for Nepal has priced the phablet at Rs 77,400. The Korean manufacturer has been continuously developing its products in a way that every successive one is better than the previous. Samsung Galaxy Grand 2 proves this. The latest 5.25 inch phablet is a major upgrade in terms of hardware specifications and features which were clearly lacking on the Galaxy Grand. The mid-range smartphone is powered by a 1.2 GHz quad-core processor with ARMv7 architecture along with 1.5 GB RAM. This results in faster processing time and smooth multitasking. Similarly, the Adreno 305 GPU can decently handle most of the graphics-demanding video games and applications. </div> <div> </div> <div> Galaxy Grand 2 is a dual-window phablet which runs on Android 4.3 Jelly Bean and Samsung TouchWiz UI. Users can choose programs with sliding window at right side and general window at middle. Compared to the first Galaxy Grand, it has a slimmer body which enhances its overall build quality and feels good in the hand. Galaxy Grand 2 comes with dimensions of 146.8 x 75.3 x 8.9 mm and weighs 163 grams. Just like the Samsung Note 3, the phablet’s back cover is a removable plastic lid with a leather design on top. Adding to the refined look, Galaxy Grand 2 has a chrome finish plate placed around the phone. </div> <div> </div> <div> The dual-SIM phablet houses a TFT capacitive touchscreen HD display (720 x 1280 pixels). With 280 ppi pixel density, the screen gives off sharp and crisp display. Colours look more real and vibrant as the phablet’s display has decent black levels. The display’s touch is also very smooth with brilliant response and provides good viewing angles. </div> <div> </div> <div> Galaxy Grand 2 features an 8 megapixel autofocus LED-flash primary snapper and a 1.9 MP secondary camera. The primary snapper can take good quality photos in well-lit conditions. The camera has multiple shooting modes. Among them ‘best photo’ (for taking a series of photos and select the best one), ‘continuous shot’ (for taking photos every 2 seconds), ‘sound and shot’, HDR and ‘best face’ modes are notable. </div> <div> </div> <div> Users can experience blazing fast internet speed as it has 42.2 Mbps HSDPA and 5.76 Mbps HSUPA. It houses different types of WLAN connections which include Wi-Fi, DLNA, Wi-Fi Direct and Wi-Fi hotspots. The phablet also has Bluetooth 4.0 and a microUSB 2.0. Galaxy Grand 2 comes with 8 GB of internal storage and a card slot which can be used to expand its storage capacity up to 64 GB. Its battery backup is decent as it sports a 2,600 mAh Li-Ion battery. </div> <div> </div> <div> International marketing services Pvt Ltd, the authorized dealer of Samsung mobiles in Nepal, has announced the price of Galaxy Grand 2 at Rs 36,900. With its new flagship product- LG G2, the company seems to have taken more time in carefully designing and packing loads of features into a smartphone. In terms of hardware specifications, the G2 is among the most powerful smartphones that money can buy. The phone is powered by a quad-core 2.26 GHz Krait 400 processor clocked at 2.26GHz which uses the latest Qualcomm MSM8974 Snapdragon 800 chipset. Similarly, with LPDDR3 2 GB RAM and Adreno 330 GPU, G2 can handle most of the heavy tasks very easily. Be it high-end mobile gaming or multitasking, the phone runs smoothly without showing any sign of snag. </div> <div> </div> <div> The G2 sports a 5.2 inch True HD-IPS + LCD capacitive touch screen protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 2. The front of the phone looks attractive with and exceptionally thin bezel. The company calls it 'near zero bezel' for 'edge to edge viewing'. With 442 ppi pixel density, its screen has a resolution of 1080 X 1980 pixels which gives vibrant and crisp display. G2 uses Graphic RAM (GRAM) technology that claims to reduce the display´s energy use by 25 percent. On top of Android Jelly Bean 4.2.2 OS, G2 runs on LG's Optimus UI. The OS has its own unique customizations with features like guest mode (multiple user option) and KnockON (unlock/lock phone with a double tap on the screen) among others. G2's build is excellent as it has a high-gloss plastic body. The phone feels lighter in hand weighing just 143 grams. </div> <div> </div> <div> G2 houses a powerful camera system. A 13 megapixel snapper sits on its back while the front side sports a 2.1 MP secondary shooter. Both cameras can be activated simultaneously. The primary camera comes with optical image stabilization which also features HDR mode. Users can capture photos at a max resolution of 4160 x 3120 pixels. With the primary camera, the G2 records 1080p videos at 60 fps along with the front camera shooting full HD videos at 30 fps. Physical buttons are absent throughout the sides. Strangely, it houses all the buttons (power key and volume rocker) at the back of the phone, just below the secondary camera. Users can have awesome sound experience with G2 as it is packed with Dolby mobile sound enhancement. Audio Zoom is another special feature which lets users zero in on a sound source, simply by zooming in on the subject while shooting a video. The phone also houses a stereo FM radio with RDS.</div> <div> </div> <div> On the power backup front, the phone has 3,000 mAh battery. It can give a backup for 34 hours of talk time on 2G and 15 hours on 3G. Storage, however, seems to be an issue. The G2 comes with 32 GB internal storage and does not have a microSD card slot for memory expansion. General answers could be multitasking, fast internet, good camera, sporty design and good support over different apps. However, these answers have now become so basic and obvious that many tech-enthusiasts are looking for more varieties and features to enthrall their enthusiasm. </div> <div> </div> <div> Samsung, the world leader in smartphone technology has come up with a solutions to satisfy the needs of enthusiasts. The Galaxy Core which runs on Android Jelly Bean 4.1.2 comes with a 4.3 inch TFT capacitive display which has a WVGA resolution of 480×800 pixels (217 ppi). The display’s touch is also very smooth with brilliant response and provides good viewing angles. </div> <div> </div> <div> Galaxy Grand 2 features an 8 megapixel autofocus LED-flash primary snapper and a 1.9 MP secondary camera. The Samsung Galaxy Core seems to be a perfect smartphone that can give a better performance than other mid-range handsets found in the market. The Galaxy Core which runs on Android Jelly Bean 4.1.2 comes with a 4.3 inch TFT capacitive display which has a WVGA resolution of 480×800 pixels (217 ppi). With these specifications, the smartphone looks pretty much as a reminiscent of the Galaxy S2, the flagship product of Samsung released in 2011. However, the phone offers much more than the Galaxy S2. </div> <div> </div> <div> The dual-SIM smartphone has variety of features including ChatON. ChatON has basic features which are auto friend registration, text chat, multimedia delivery, and added features like My Page, voice/video chat, and translate. Users can send text, picture, video, and audio as multimedia using this feature. The feature even helps them to share their photos, videos, location and files easily. S Voice, Smart Stay, Face Unlock and other smart features of the Galaxy Core are mostly found on high-end smartphones. Likewise, the Face Unlock feature enables the users to unlock their phone through face recognition mechanism. </div> <div> </div> <div> The phone sports a LED-flash 5 megapixel primary camera at the rear and a WVGA camera at the front. With these specifications, the smartphone looks pretty much as a reminiscent of the Galaxy S2, the flagship product of Samsung released in 2011. Likewise, the Face Unlock feature enables the users to unlock their phone through face recognition mechanism. </div> <div> </div> <div> The phone sports a LED-flash 5 megapixel primary camera at the rear and a WVGA camera at the front.
